The Dental Professional Advisory Committee (DePAC) Call To Action Subcommittee was created to assist in the implementation of a "National Call to Action to Promote Oral Health." This is a public-private partnership under the leadership of the Office of the Surgeon General.  It was started in 2003 as a follow-up to the 2000 "Surgeon General's Report: Oral Health in America."  The "Call to Action" report is located on the internet at http://www.phs-dental.org/ncta/product_1.html <http://www.phs-dental.org/ncta/product_1.html> .  In response to the "Call to Action," the Public Health Service (PHS) has developed an inventory of Federal initiatives related to various components of the report.  The Federal Inventory can be found at http://www.phs-dental.org/ncta/news_1.html <http://www.phs-dental.org/ncta/news_1.html> ."

The DePAC wants to create an inventory of local, innovative programs that address objectives/initiatives included in the "National Call to Action to Promote Oral Health." If you are aware of, or involved with such programs in your community and would like to inform others in the PHS what is happening, please email that information to the following address: Robin.A.Scheper@uscg.mil . You will be sent a simple form to complete and then the project will be added to a DePAC Inventory of projects related to the "Call to Action" in which PHS dentists are involved.
