Public Health Service Oral Health Coordinating Committee (OHCC)

Primary Purpose and Functions

The PHS OHCC is charged with assisting the Public Health Service in “meeting its responsibility to promote the oral health of American public through coordination of a broad spectrum of oral health policy, research and actions within the PHS, across Federal agencies and between public and private sectors.”

The OHCC is asked to provide direction for PHS oral health policy through review and evaluation of relevant PHS and agency documents.  These include such documents as “Healthy People 2010,” the Surgeon General’s report on oral health, and “A National Call to Action to Promote Oral Health.”  The PHS OHCC promotes oral health initiatives and serves as liaison to relevant Federal and non-Federal agencies.
